Equinor UK and the Armed Forces Covenant

Our commitment to the Armed Forces community

Equinor UK is proud to support the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families.

We recognise the skills, experience and values developed through service, and the contribution they make to our organisation, our industry and UK society. Supporting people through change and transition is part of how we live our values and continue Searching for Better – creating an environment where people can develop, contribute and grow.

Equinor UK signed the Armed Forces Covenant in July 2024, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring that members of the Armed Forces community are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged because of their service. We are committed to providing special consideration where appropriate, particularly for those who are injured or bereaved.

In June 2026, Equinor was awarded Silver status in the Ministry of Defence's Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). The Silver Award recognises employers that actively support defence personnel, including reservists and veterans, and that advocate for Armed Forces-friendly employment practices.

This recognition reflects Equinor's values and our ambition to foster an inclusive workplace where people with diverse backgrounds and experiences can thrive.

Why this matters to us

Service develops leadership, resilience, teamwork and adaptability – qualities that matter in a complex and changing energy system.

We believe that no member of the Armed Forces community should face disadvantage in employment, and that organisations have a responsibility to support people as they move between roles, careers and stages of life.

What we are doing

We have practical measures in place to support members of the Armed Forces community across Equinor UK, including:

  • Supporting employees who are active reservists by recognising and accommodating their training and deployment commitments
  • Fair and inclusive recruitment practices that recognise transferable skills and experience
  • Building internal awareness to better support veterans, reservists and military families
  • Participating in careers and outreach activities to improve understanding of opportunities within Equinor UK
  • Supporting colleagues in meeting civic responsibilities and national events of remembrance

These actions, together with our Silver Award in the Ministry of Defence's Employer Recognition Scheme, reflect our ongoing efforts to support members of the Armed Forces community and foster an inclusive workplace.

Looking ahead

Supporting the Armed Forces community is an ongoing priority for Equinor UK. Building on the progress recognised through our Silver Award, we will continue to strengthen support for reservists, veterans and service leavers, deepen engagement with Armed Forces organisations and networks, and improve how we recognise and value experience gained through service.

We will also continue to build consistency across our policies, practices and internal understanding, ensuring that members of the Armed Forces community feel supported and valued throughout their careers at Equinor UK.
